Welcome to the Omidaze Research & Development Page.
Research & Development (R&D) is at the very heart of what we do. Sometimes you just need to put a few crazy different ideas together and see what it looks like just like one of our young summer school participants here
We are fascinated by the intersection between democratic and cultural participation and creative/artistic centred approaches to problem solving and systems change & the R&D process enables us to explore the identified need/problem and how we want to begin to creatively address it.
Whether that is through an all-female Shakespeare production, a show for younger audiences, a prototype for a large scale public or educational information campaign, a workshop, an Open Space event, Creative Learning project or a democratic and cultural public information & creation centre in a disused shop.
From taking actors out into City Centres to research barriers to theatre audiences before beginning to develop a production to placing playwrights in a disused shop to talk to members of the public about what matters to them and the society they want, to taking our rehearsals into schools and making all the students co-directors we passionately believe that R&D should not just happen behind closed doors
